Apple Picking

Last weekend we went apple picking at Lyman Orchards in Connecticut.
Jayden insisted that the first thing we had to do was to take a trek through the corn maze.
(I didn't post all the pictures we took in there, it took too long and there were too many pictures taken. We usually only do half the maze, but this year we did the whole thing, and it was about two miles of walking, and lots of fun, and lots of muddy feet too!)

Running ahead (as usual)!

This is fun!

Which way now?

I think we really are lost!

Come on, everybody, follow me! I'll get us out of here!

We're almost there!

We made it!

Then we were off to the orchards.

First we picked some red apples.

Then we picked some golden ones.

We were very Blessed to have beautiful weather.

It was a perfect day!

And the apples we picked were a gift that kept on giving!
Fun to eat picked right off the tree!

And apple slices are a great snack food.

And they are even better when served with a favorite brand of cheese and/or caramel sauce for dipping!

And they make a wonderful dessert of apple crisp!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody!

  1. Well I made it here early this time...tell Jayden I love his glasses and that he can read a map well...He's too cute Eileen...I liked the photo of him running down through the long rows of apple trees with the big sky overhead...you know that looked even longer to him.
I love apple crisp... in fact I put some apples in a blackberry crisp I made Thursday. Andrew's favorite dessert is apple pie or apple crisp...

Loved the apple picking...we live close to an orchard with a maze too...also thank you for your nice comment Eileen...I did reply !

They are so nice. I love the photos of Jayden in the maze (I'd still be in there....following a map is not my forte...) Love the apple picking too....sounds like a lot of fun.

  5. HI EILEEN

Oh such a wonderful day. I have been there many times, especialy some years back when my kids were younger. It is such fun and your pictures are wonderful. I get so happy inside as you share about all the beautiful memories you are creating for your grandchildren.

And, you were less that a half hour away from me.!! :-)

    Enjoy your Sunday.

    Love you

  7. Thanks for visiting, everyone!

Wanda, I've been wanting to make an apple crisp ever since I saw your postings with the crisps you've made! But the apples from the grocery just aren't anywhere near as good as the ones picked fresh, so I waited.

Cathy, thanks, it was a lot of fun!

Thanks, Jackie! Maps are not my thing either! And neither are mazes! Once again I followed my father-in-law's rule of placing one hand on a wall and following that, and eventually you get out, it's not the quickest way, but you won't get lost, and eventually you'll find your way out!

Hi, Jill, I love Fall too! It's my favorite Season!

Gail, I was thinking of you as we drove up to Connecticut! It really is a beautiful State! Especially that area, you are very lucky!

Hi, Bernie, I'm glad you get a kick out of Jayden, I do too! That kid is too much, really!

Well, it's late, and I'm off to bed.
    Have a Happy Sunday everyone!
    Love,
    Eileen

  9. The new look is very attractive, Eileen. The weather here puts me in the mood for apple picking, too! I took a short cut and got some at the store yesterday to take to our small group gathering tonight. Since the meal includes grilled burgers, baked beans & chips, I thought I'd just slice apples and serve with peanut butter/caramel dip.

I so look forward to enjoying some very good apples soon.

The sky in your pictures was just beautiful..and the apple picking..and eating sounds like lots of fun too! I would have got lost in the maze and probably wouldn't have been able to find my way out :) It sounds like you all had a wonderful time...
The apples and cheese and the apple crisp look so yummy!!
    Really nice pictures!!!
    Love, Jerelene

Your little guy is so cute. He looks like he is enjoying his day :>) I'll bet he loves the apple crisp too. It looks delicious!
