Jayden's Sixth Year ~ Blessed Beyond Measure

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAYDEN!

I can't get over the fact that the moment I became a grandmother my life was so changed and so enriched.

"A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend."
~ Author Unknown
That about sums up very nicely my relationship with Jayden!

Here are some of the highlights of this past year spent with Jayden.

After a hard day's work in school:

When asked what his favorite day is, Jayden replies, "Off!" (He does NOT like school at all.)

Helping 'Paw':

One of Jayden's favorite places to be ~ the beach!

Another favorite is to spend lots of time in the pool:

He even lost his first tooth in the pool!

And another favorite thing to do is to spend lots of time with cousins (and second-cousins, or second-cousins-once-removed, or whatever the relationship is. Jayden just calls them all his COUSINS!):

(Our great-nephews Tommy and Eamon with Jayden)
(Jayden with our great-nephew James)

(Jayden and Eamon having some fun with Erin!)

A very active boy:

But once in awhile there's a quiet, softer side to this boy:

Still very excited about anything 'Star Wars'!

And still very excited about snow!
Today is Jayden's actual Birthday, but over the weekend we had a Birthday celebration for him. On Saturday there was a family party ~

(James and Jayden)
(Here Mia gets in on the action too.)

Everyone was in a loving mood!
Our youngest son Andrew and our nephew Adam.
And after opening gifts, there was some time for fun outside ~

even Mia got in on some 'Star Wars' battles!

Then it was time to sing 'Happy Birthday'!

Make a wish!

And on Sunday we took Jayden to 'Dave & Busters' for lunch and some fun and games!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIX-YEAR-OLD!

THANK YOU, GOD!

Jayden's Fifth Year ~ Still Blessed

Okay, we're nearing the end, there's only one more post left after this of the "Jayden Saga" leading up to his Sixth Birthday. I think you might remember some of these events leading up to his Fifth Birthday:

Good night, my angel
Time to close your eyes

And save these questions for another day

I think I know what you've been asking me

I think you know what I've been trying to say

I promised I would never leave you

And you should always know

Wherever you may go

No matter where you are

I never will be far away

Good night, my angel

Now it's time to sleep

And still so many things I want to say

Remember all the songs you sang for me

When we went sailing on an emerald bay

And like a boat out on the ocean

I'm rocking you to sleep

The water's dark and deep

Inside this ancient heart

You'll always be a part of me

Good night, my angel

Now it's time to dream

And dream how wonderful your life will be

Someday your child may cry

And if you sing this lullabye

Then in your heart

There will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone

But lullabyes go on and on...

...they never die

That's how you

And I

Will be

Lullabye ~ Billy Joel

Happy Birthday, Five-Year-Old!

Thank You, God!
