Queen Of All Things Awe-summm!!!

I have been tagged by Cathy @ A Bit of the Blarney and Marcy @ Blessings Each Day with a MeMe award ~ Queen of All Things Awe-summm!!!

In this one we are supposed to reveal seven things that make us awesome. Well, I asked my children what they thought made me awesome and before I list their answers (in no particular order), I thought I would list what I think makes my children awesome ( again, in no particular order and with no names used), because I think I had a little to do with what makes them awesome. I would like to site examples of each child but that will reveal identities, and I don't wish to go there again!

Child One has the awesome trait of empathy. This child is very compassionate and sensitive to the needs of others.

Child Two has the awesome ability to make everybody laugh. This child has a wonderful sense of humor and is so quick-witted. This child has the ability to find humor in almost every situation and better yet, this child has the ability of helping you to see the humor.

Child Three has a big heart. This child is perceptive and insightful and is very careful not to hurt the feelings of others.

Child Four has the ability to overcome adversity, this child can work through hardships, overcome them and move forward.

Child Five has personality! This child is lively and animated and has an infectious way of pulling everyone into the moment at hand.

Okay, now on to what my kids see as my awesomeness:
I've been told that I am an awesome grandmother, and the fact that I "care for and devote my days" to my grandson makes me awesome.

I've been told that I am awesome because I would make toast, and remake it, until it was just the right color, not too dark and not too light, and I would let it cool just the right amount so the butter wouldn't be too hard nor too melty.

I am told I make awesome baked ziti.

I am told I am awesome because I visited each child when they were hospitalized (HUH????!!). One child said that first and then it became the joke and then the others had to jump on the bandwagon and highlight that as something wonderfully awesome about me!

I am told I am awesome because I am generous.

I am told I am awesome because even though they've done a lot of bad things I still want them around.

I am told I am awesome just because I'm me!

As for myself, I think I have an awesome ability to read people. I won't say always, but almost always, I can tell what a person is like from the moment I set eyes on them. Most people say you shouldn't go by first impressions, but I think I have an innate ability to judge someone on first sight, and my first instinctive impression most often turns out to be fact.
And I think I have an awesome ability to read situations, to know what is really going on behind the scenes so to speak. I'm not book smart, but I think I am awesomely street-smart.

Last but not least, I have an awesome lot of Blessings in my life.
I live an awesome life, in an awesome city, surrounded by awesome family and friends!

Okay, so maybe my 'awesomeness' isn't all that awesome, but it's me!

Now to pass on this Awesome Award to some Awesome Bloggers!
Most of the blogs I follow have already been given this award, I would have passed it to them all too! To those that haven't been given this award (that I know of) I will gladly pass it on to them if they care to participate:

Sandy @ beachgirl77

Gail @ Know Your "It's"

Becky @ Holiday In The Sun

Sheila @ The Quintessential Magpie

Annette @ A Wisp of Creativity

Jill @ Grandma Honey

You are all awesome to me!
Oh! That's another awesome thing about me ~ I have the most awesome blog friends!

Forgive me if you've already received this award, there are too many out there to keep track of. And if you'd rather not participate, that's fine too.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  2. Here's to an awesome Mom! I'm like Bernie, mistakenly, I thought you had 4 kids...will have to look at your side bar closer! Is it 2 daughters and 3 sons Eileen? I have 1 daughter and 2 sons.

It's awesome that you think we're awesome...!

  3. Hi, Bernie, I was just visiting over your way and left a long comment!
Yes, I have five kids, but some of them are very protective about their privacy, they don't want to be mentioned at all! The one that protests the most, when I asked about my 'awesomeness' I thought for sure would not say a thing! But I was surprised and that child gave me one of the nicest responses!
It's kind of hard to post some days, and also to put up pictures, that's why you'll be seeing the same people over and over again, I'm very careful not to put some family members pictures up anymore! Some don't care at all and that makes things easy, but some do and I have to respect that.

Good morning, Wanda, yes, I have two girls and three boys (here's the order Boy/Man ~ 35, Boy/Man ~34, Girl/Woman ~ 31, Girl/Woman ~ 26, Boy/Man ~ 23). One son is married (Mia's Dad!), and the other two are single but have moved out to apartments of their own, both daughters still live at home and of course, Jayden is here too!
I knew you had one daughter but I thought it was only one son.
I'd love for us all to do posts about our families, but it's too hard when I have to be so careful about mentioning names!

And I DO THINK YOU ARE ALL AWESOME!!
Okay, let me run, Ray and I are off to do some shopping and I want to get to church too.
    Love,
    Eileen

  4. Really enjoyed reading all of this, Eileen and so glad that the sons and daughters did do you some justice.

Think I may have told you before but you have the number of children I 'aspired' to have, but I am so grateful for the three I DO have.

How funny...my first time 'radar' with people is usually right on target too.

    blessings and smooshie hugs,

    marcy

  7. Hi EIleen-

Aww-summ indeed! I really admire your investment in your grand kids. - knowing how wonderful it is to influence their lives in such a positive way. YOU are part of writing "their story". And that is permanent. :-)
ANd fromone intuitive person to another, you are very intuitive. :-)
I still have NO idea how to atttach the award to my blog or how to tag other bloggers. eesh.

    Love you
    Gail

  8. Marcy, you may have mentioned this but I didn't retain it. You have three children altogether, or three children here on earth?
I love the idea of thinking of your Mario with your little boy in Heaven, both waiting there happily for your arrival one day.

With my 'radar' I have been way off a few times, I didn't like two people right off the bat, they just rubbed me the wrong way, and those two I ended up being very close with. One I was best friends with all through high school (and we still keep in touch although not often), and the other I am still very close with to this day. So I really do try to give people the benefit of the doubt because I know I can jump to conclusions too.

Anonymous, I'm sorry, I should have said the rest were UNmarried, not single, you are right. But there's an easy way to remedy that situation ~ GET MARRIED!! Then I can't make that same mistake again!
She's a wonderful girl! What, she's not good enough to marry? (I'm here shaking my head and 'Tsk, Tsk, Tsk-ing' you!)

Gail, thanks for being so sweet.
And I'm still so bad with the computer too! I need my kids or my husband to walk me through almost every step! I would explain it to you, but I'd need someone to explain it to me first! I can now upload pictures on my own and I'm happy with that!
And even the way I do things, everyone is telling me there is a much easier way! Oh well.
And you can do the videos! I'm so bad with that too!

Cathy, thank YOU for passing me the award!

    Love to all,
    Eileen

  9. I bow before your Awesomeness! You surely have the right to be called Queen of All Things in your household. Your children sound so great. I have 4 grown children and I was reminded of their traits when I read about your kiddos. Have an Awesome day. <3

  10. Even more reasons to know that you are AWESOME :)
I saw that post the other day on arranging dresser drawers, too! I copied it and sent it to my daughters (who actually HAVE little ones still at home). I'm looking forward to a more "normal" week. Hope you continue to find your cup running over this week, my friend.

  11. Eileen...You have five children...That is awesome in itself. I admire and respect your loving and kind ways....easily discerned through your posts. I think is was splendid of you to list the 'awesome traits' of your children first. To me, it seems that you always try to put others first...and that is a loving and awesome characteristic. May I add that one to yours, pleae?
    Love,
    Jackie

  12. Rebecca, I hope the clothes organizing post is as helpful to your daughters as it's been to me! I wish I had done that last year when I needed all the outfits for Jayden for school! It would have made searching for clothes so much easier each morning. This year he wears a uniform :) no problem finding and matching clothes in the mornings anymore!
I am looking forward to a good week, Rebecca, thanks! I hope you have a good one too!

Thank you, Jackie, that's very kind of you, and I'm happy you see me that way, because I feel like I am so self-absorbed, it's nice to hear someone think otherwise of me!

I have read that "blogging is a narcissist dream come true"! But in the defense of many bloggers, what else are we supposed to blog about but what we know?! I'm not learned enough to blog about Scripture, I have no unusual talent or ability to share, I'm not a decorator, I'm not a gourmet chef, I only have my life to blog about. Oh well.
    Have a good night, ladies!

I'm going to post and then I'm going to gather things up for tomorrow because I want to be up and out bright and early.

  13. Oh, my goodness, Ann of Green Cables (I don't think I ever told you how much I love that name for your blog!), I don't know how I left you out!
I've really been enjoying reading your blog and getting to know you!
And I loved the picture and video of your Mom!
    Enjoy your time away!

  14. Eileen, I think you're amazingly awesome! And I truly appreciate this award. Thank you for thinking of me. :-)

I am still on blog break and might blog tomorrow, but I have to see how things play out with things I have on my to-do list. It's as long as my leg!

Love to you. I've missed "seeing" you and all the sweet bloggers SO much.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  15. Someday I hope you share your recipe with us for baked ziti. It was funny reading what your kids find awesome about you. I can totally see you making the toast just perfect!

  16. Btw, thank you for including me on your list! I will ask my kids soon. This ought to be interesting.

  17. Wow I cannot believe that you actually visited your kids in the hospital! I mean really Eileen I would have went to disney world or something!
The toast thing is really sweet Eileen. I was still cutting my son's meat when he was 11. Thats when Jake made me stop. Good thing too or else I'd be doing a lot of driving everyday to my son's house!
You are a super duper mom Eileen!
