Be Not Afraid

This is especially for a friend who is facing some trials right now, but really, it's for anyone who may be facing their fears.

Be Not Afraid

You shall cross the barren desert -
But you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety -
though you do not know the way
You shall speak your words in foreign lands -
and all will understand
You shall see the Face of God and live

Be not afraid, I go before you always
Come, follow Me and I will give you rest

Blessed are your poor -
For the Kingdom shall be theirs
Blest are you that weep and mourn -
For one day you shall laugh
And if wicked tongues insult and hate you -
All because of me
Blessed, Blessed are you

Be not afraid, I go before you always
Come, follow Me and I will give you rest

(These lyrics below aren't included in this rendition, but they are my favorite)

If you pass through raging waters in the sea you shall not drown
If you walk amid the burning flames you shall not be harmed
If you stand before the power of hell and death is at your side
Know that I am with you through it all

Be not afraid, I go before you always
Come, follow Me and I will give you rest

  2. HI EILEEN-

It is hard to type and cry - oh how I love, love this song. We had it sung ag my Dad's funeral services and my nephews. It was also one of my favorites when I was active in my church with those very same priests. I still love the song - because it gives me hope and comfort, always. I now that I am never alone. I hope your friend is feeling comforted too.

    Lov to you
    Gail

  3. Oh, Eileen, these words, right from the heart and mouth of God, are His love letter to us...He never leaves us...He's always with us. Just beautiful...I agree, I love the last lyrics as well, yet the entire song speaks to my heart and soul. I pray your friend finds comfort in this song and in knowing that her Father in Heaven loves her very much, and that there is nothing to fear...nothing.

    Love and hugs...God bless you!
    Mary

  8. Sheila, yes, I am a fan! I actually found him quite by accident one day while searching online for a song by Gordon Lightfoot. Actually John Michael Talbot's voice is very reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot, both have that very distinct, very unique, very crisp, clear, almost haunting voice. Such a gift!

Gail, yes, this song always moves me too, and not only because it was played at so many loved ones funerals, but just because it speaks to my heart of the love Jesus has for us. It brings me comfort too.

Mary, you always have something really beautiful to say, in your comments and in the posts on your blog. I remember I was feeling so down this past September 11 and God led me to your blog, and you have been such a gift to me!

Thanks, Jill! I never thought I could feel so connected to others through the computer but I do! I think your blog was the very first one that I visited, and the funny thing is I found you through a 'Jon and Kate Plus Eight' blog and I don't even watch their show! Now that really was God leading me to you! I'm not sure but I think I visited your blog before I even had my own blog!

Rebecca, I was thinking of you, and I'm glad you liked this song, it always brings me comfort.

Bernie, I think he does such a good job too. I know you said that it was played at your husband and at your son's Funerals. It brings tears to my eyes too, but comfort to my heart, and I hope to yours too.

Thank you, everyone, for visiting and commenting.
    Love to you all,
    Eileen

  10. Hi Eileen,
I tried to listen to the video but the volume on my computer is not working properly. Katie is not cooperating with me so I will try again later.
But the lyrics are beautiful and sound familiar.
I want to hear as it sounds as though it could be a hymn. I don't always remember the titles but once I hear the tune I'll know. I'll come back in a while and try again.
    Love Di

  11. Hi Eileen,
This song touched the essence of my being! Tears are streaming down my face. I have never heard this song before, but I absolutely love it! I have listened to it over and over tonight, and I am going to play it everymorning when I wake up. Thank you so much for posting this, it has truly blessed me. The passage of scripture in Isaiah 43, is my absolute favorite! Eileen you are a blessing...thankyou for being my friend.

  13. Teresa, you are a Blessing to my life. Your life, your trials, your trust in God, your post today, Teresa, I don't think you realize that the way you live your life today is God Speaking to us all. Teresa, you are a shining example of who I would like to be, for I know I would not have that courage and trust. I pray that I could be half as good as you. God Bless you.

And, Diana, the voice is gone too? Now how can you be a good crank without the voice to go with it? What do you do? Make cranky faces? That's no good. Then you just keep all the crankiness inside of you which makes you more cranky! You better go to your hibernation spot, put on your heavy metal music and forget the rest of the world for a little while!

    'Love you girls!,
    Eileen

  14. I love this song Eileen. It's always been one of my favorites. I also like 'On Eagles Wings' and 'how Lovely is your Dwelling Place.' I have them all and more. When ever I am in a funk I get them out and play them. They are some of the songs that keep me centered. Thanks for sharing.
