Fort Hood, Texas

I'm sure most of you are aware of the tragic event that took place at Fort Hood yesterday. And if you are like me you feel that you wish you could do something to help.
I was so happy to read of a suggestion here on Southern Hospitality.

Soldier's Angels is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization that provides aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families.
If you would like to help the victims of the Fort Hood tragedy, this organization is collecting encouraging cards, and NEW stuffed animals for the victims' families.

The address is:

Soldier's Angels
4408 Pan Am Expressway
San Antonio, Texas 78218

Please keep these families in your prayers as well as all our military who risk life, limb, and sanity while safeguarding others.

  1. Thanks for this, Eileen. I didn't see it on Rhoda's blog yet, so I'm glad you had it here. That sounds like a good group.

I've been trying not to dwell on the frighttening part of this because the cousin I adore most is in the Middle East right now. This will make me feel like I'm doing something pro-active and being productive.

    XO,

    Sheila

  8. Thanks for sharing this, Eileen.

What can any of us say at a time like this? What happened is just so uncalled for, so unnecessary, so unfair... No one can fathom the pain that the families must be going through.

The truth is that no one can really give them the comfort that will help ease the pain even just a bit, no one but God alone...

But at least we can reach out to them, and offer a little prayer, light a candle, send a heartfelt card, a bouquet of flowers, or a stuffed toy. Yes, the Lord tells us to weep with those who weep.

You must be grieving too, in your own way, for these are your countrymen. I grieve with you, dear friend. May God's comfort reach your heart today and in the days to come.

    Love
    Lidj

  11. So glad you posted this, Eileen...I put a link to Rhoda on my blog as well, so we can get as many people helping as possible. I'm still in shock over this...its much more than meets the eye...terror in our own military base. Our country is truly fighting for its life from within and without...we can pray, call Congress, and help the victims of this evil. You are a sweetie for posting this...hope the word get out to many. I really want the families of Fort Hood soldiers to know that the American people care and are standing with them. We owe it to them to speak out and stand up against those that would harm us.

    God bless you, sweet Eileen!

    Mary

  17. Hi E,
It seems my comments have been disappearing too, and yesterday I posted John Micheal Talbots songs on my Video Bar and some terrible music came up.
This is such a horrific event, and my heart and prayers go out to the families...brings tears to my eyes just thinking of the pain this senselessness has brought to so many.
    God Bless America (((HUGS))) T
