Memorial Day

I hope I never forget to be grateful for our military. I hope I always remember how much they sacrificed. I hope I always remember that freedom is not free.

I hope I never forget how much their loved ones have sacrificed. I hope I always remember that these scenes below are just the very beginning of their pain.

God Bless these men and women. God Bless their loved ones. God Bless the land they fought and died for.

God Bless America.

  2. WOW, this post has so touched my heart, I had to turn Taps off as it was played at my husband's funeral and I know so well how it feels to lay on a grave with a broken heart. I don't like feeling this pain, but we must. It is why we are able to eat, sleep and worship because of all our soldiers.....:-) Hugs

  4. these photos are only the tip of the iceberg so it is said. You did an amazing job of portraying the importance of this Memorial weekend and the meaning that should not go forgotten. It saddens me that so many people find this weekend to go on Holiday and spend it boating, 4-wheeling and such. I know...I am one of them in the past. Now I just like to stay home...take it easy and try and remember what the true meaning is really about. I love seeing all these pics that people have posted. It has really touched my heart. Thank you.

  5. PS your blogger header is so beautiful. The roses against the black background is breath taking to say the least. But...I love roses...

  8. Eileen,

I do believe that this is the most poignantly moving Memorial Day post I've ever read. ALL of those people who have lost the ones they love just speak volumes, particularly that young boy trying so hard not to cry with the officer handing him the flag that obviously must have draped his father's casket. Freedom is definitely not free, and I thank God for our troops and for their sacrifice and that of their families so that we might have the freedom to even write these words on a blog. God bless them every single one!

    XO,

    Sheila
