Not So Cold Afterall... Not When There Are A Few Nice Things To Warm Your Heart

Yesterday morning Winter was back. Temperatures dropped, and it was cloudy, cold, and windy when Jayden left for school in the morning. It was just as cloudy, cold, and windy when I went to pick him up. On the walk home we talked about how cold it was again and he said to me, "Maybe when we get home we can have the Leprechaun hot chocolate and get warm." I had forgotten that "the Leprechaun" had sent us a little gold pot of green hot chocolate! Ray found it while shopping online and had it sent to Jayden.

And Jayden was amazed at the 'magic' powder in the pot. It's white powder...

...but it makes green hot chocolate!

And it's really very delicious, a very rich flavor, and Jayden I both like it very much. I enjoyed mine with a ginger biscotti and Jayden enjoyed his topped with lots of whipped cream!

It hit the spot and warmed us up! But two more things really warmed my heart yesterday. One was a package that was sent to me from my blogger friend Irene @ Irene's RE~VINTAGED, Irene lives in Australia and I was so lucky to happen upon her blog. She is very talented and makes wonderful creations out of vintage materials. I was lucky enough to snag these two beautiful pillows that Irene crafted out of a vintage tablecloth:

And this is Jayden mimicking my reaction when I opened the package! YES!

I'm sorry that my photography skills leave much to be desired and these pictures do not do Irene's talent justice, her workmanship is exquisite and I really appreciate her attention to detail!

And Irene was so sweet to also include in my package these beautiful cross-stitched works of art.

Thank you, Irene, I feel so Blessed!

And the next thing to warm my heart was Jayden. I told him I was very tired and wanted to lay on the couch for a little while. He said he was tired too and that he would take a nap with me, and I thought, oh well, I guess there goes the nap because he usually has ants in his pants. But he very sweetly climbed up next to me, and he started singing a lullabye to me very softly, one that he made up by himself, while at the same time patting my head. It was just the sweetest thing. And I really fell asleep! And so did he.
Blessings abound!

  1. Oh Jayden is just the sweetest thing! And that green hot chocolate sounds and looks really good Eileen. The pillows and cross stitching were beautiful! You are a lucky lady!
    Love Di ♥

  2. Irene's pillows go so well with Eileen's blue denim couch covers! Just playing around there with your so similar names! They are very nice pillows, Eileen and add an extra touch of summer to your livingroom. I need to do some summerizing myself.

We're having cooler spring weather too, it even snowed Thursday night, but just a little.
It's good to see sweet Jayden's face and even sweeter to think of his singing you to sleep!
    Enjoy the weekend!

  3. Eileen...the 'he started singing a lullabye to me very that he made up himself, while at the same time patting my head' got to me. I'm crying....a good of love that was expressed so sweetly from a grandson to his Umma. Thank you for this post. I am feeling very tender-hearted today....and I needed to read something from you. You have a way of letting love shine through...and I think that your posts are meant for me to read....a gift from God.. a touch of tenderness...and He knew it...and used you.
    Thank you, Eileen.

  4. Green hot chocolate. Who knew?? That was truly a great find. Sounds yummy. The photos of the package treasures from your friend in Australia are nice and the cross stitch work is wonderful.

  5. your blog is so heart-warming! what a sweet soul you are. i have irish blood too :o)

  6. HI EILEeN-

  8. What a lovely way to keep warm on a wintry blustery day. The leprechaun green chocolate is interesting, and the ginger biscoti makes my mouth water.

What a great day it way, indeed! The snags and counted cross stitch were lovely!

    This post is so heartwarming...literally.

  9. P.S. Tell Jayden, I absolutely love anything with whipped cream in it!

  10. That is the sweetest story about Jayden, Eileen! Loved reading that. And I love your pillows, too!

I'm sorry I've been MIA, but I have been without a computer and had company at our getaway. Claudie from Canada came for her birthday, and we had a party. I don't have any pictures until Julie gets back to Canada. But some of the other bloggers do if you want to see them. Now, I've got to go back there to do spring maintenance and hopefully get the place sold. I will be sure and check in with you when I get back. In the mean time, I could really use your prayers.

    Thanks so much. Miss you...

    Sheila :-)

  11. Eileen, I popped over as I hadn't heard from you in a while and was surprised to see you had posted, it hadn't shown up on my reader. I really hate that as I would hate to miss commenting on my friends blogs.
Jayden looks so cute Eileen, I think that was so sweet of Ray to have that hot chocolate sent to him, and your pillows are beautiful. Don't you just love anything home made, they are my favorite. I have recevied so many lovely things from my blogging friends, now I am feeling guilty as though I sent thank you cards I didn't acknowledge on my blog....Maybe I will do a post on my gifts with pictures.
Hope you got my e-mail, have a wonderful Holy Week and Happy Easter..... big hugs to Jayden and Mia.......:-) Hugs

  12. Hi Eileen! What a sweet post! If we knew how wonderful our grandchildren would be why didn't we have them first LOL. They truly are the sweetest blessing in my life!

  13. Hi Eileen, That little Jayden is such a treasure! What a sweet heart he is. I love the little cup that has Jayden on it. It made me smile. Hearing about him reminds me so much of the days I was blessed to spend with my grandson Thomas when he lived with us. Leprehaun hot chocolate? How cool is that. I have never heard of anything like that. I love the idea. Your pilloes are so pretty. I just love anything homemade. I hope you are having a great week ♥

  14. What a lovely package. There is nothing like the richness of handmade treasures. Well except for taking a nap on the couch with a grandson! Oh and that lullaby!...I wish you had a video of that. What a memory you have to keep forever.
