Unfortunately these incidents are fairly common on the New York City subway. I'm not saying it's an everyday occurrence, but I'll bet I personally know (at a minimum) of a dozen women that this has happened to on the subway.
When I worked in Manhattan, it happened to me once on the subway, once while walking on the street, and once in the building I worked in. My reaction was to do NOTHING other than feel scared, and sickened, and violated, and I moved away from the offender and the situation as quickly as possible. I wish I had the presence of mind and the courage to respond in the manner of this girl!
(So sorry about the commercial in the beginning of the video. It's only about fifteen seconds though, and the video is worth it.)
It's Been A While

I've never been on a subway or to NY. I have never had anything like this happen to me and I thought Calif had everything here. Good that girl had more anger in her than fright! I would have reacted more like you. For sure.
ReplyDeleteShe was a brave and determined woman wasn't she, a lot of women would of ran away. I love what she did, probably prevented other women from having to to through that horrid experience.....:-)Hugs
ReplyDeleteHI Eileen-
ReplyDeleteshe was very brave for sure. I have been 'flashed' and I reported it to the local authorities. I had to identify him in a two-way mirror. Awful. No where near the confidence and courage this young woman displayed.
Love to you
Gail
