Life has it's drawbacks now and then, but all in all ~ I AM BLESSED!
I've been obsessed with cupcakes lately so yesterday I baked myself a batch, and Jayden helped me add food coloring to the icing, and then we set them up on a cupcake tree that Ray had bought for me:
The kids will come over tonight and we'll enjoy them.
I also made myself a delicious broccoli/cheese pie (egg substitutes and low-fat cheese) and had it for breakfast (I found the recipe on one of those 'get healthy' blogs):
And I was searching for the definition of 'grandma chic' for my other blog (grandma chic is both a style of dress and a style of home decor) and I came across these wonderful pictures:
My favorite images are these next ones from a blog called The Sartorialist ~ fabulous photographs! But he did have great subjects to work with!
Very chic!
Adorable!
Fashionable!
Ooh-la-la!
And my absolute favorite is this one (she makes me want to let my hair go gray!):
Now this is my idea of 'Grandma Chic'!
When I grow up I want to be just like her!
Seriously, I know how fortunate I am, and my heart and my prayers go out to those who are less fortunate, those whose health is failing, those who watch loved ones suffer, those who are facing death, those who are letting go, those who are trying desperately to hold on, those who are having financial troubles, those who suffer from addiction, those who are jobless, those who are homeless, those who are lonely, those who suffer persecution, those who are in the military and far from loved ones, and today especially my heart goes out to the people of Haiti.

ReplyDeleteJanine said we all had to drop by and leave birthday wishes and who am I, a mere mortal, to go against her dictate?
The wish is genuine, although from where I am positioned in the 20th century calendar, your 56 makes you a comparative bambino. Hah!

Hello Eileen, I found birthday wishes for you on several blogs, Bernie's for one, that I just had to look you up and leave birthday wishes for you. I am older than dirt but appreciate the Grandma Chic. My hair has been white for years and I finally realized I like it that way. Don't eve have to worry about the roots sneaking in. Pop over for a visit, if you get a chance.

Hello Eileen,
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting you at the behest of several of your other blogger friends - you have been much in the news today! Happy Birthday to YOU! Those cupcakes look yummy, and the casserole looks just like one my D-i-L made for me. Mine had broccoli, too.
Happy birthday dear Eileen! 56! why your just a baby LOL I hope your birthday is fabulous. From the looks of all of that delicious food I would say you are off to a good start. That little Jayden is such a good little boy. Please tell him I said the cupcakes look yummy! Yes, we are all blessed. My heart goes out to people suffering every where and especially Haiti.
ReplyDeleteMy heart does too Eileen. I was in bed last night not being able to go to sleep and I just tried to picture all the anguish and suffering going on in Haiti. I cannot even imagine, not really at all. I'm certain it is beyond anything we can comprehend.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you and I are just a couple months a part in age. I will be 56 in April! I also wish I could be a gray grandma. Sure would save me lots of money.
Well, well....somebody have a birthday today??

ReplyDeleteEileen! Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope your birthday was absolutely wonderful. I'm still on break, but when I saw this, I just had to wish you all the best for the coming year.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great to be over half way to becoming a true antique? That's what I tell myself because I'm there, too. LOL! I am enjoying the golden years so much and am glad you are, too.
Miss you... back into my break...
XO,
Sheila :-)
