'This And That' And 'Here And There'

It's been a 'this and that' and a 'here and there' few days. I've been doing a little of 'this' over 'here' and a little of 'that' over 'there', and not all that much has been getting done as I haven't really sunk my teeth into any one big project.
But I am very happy with my little successes here and there.
I came across a wonderful tip the other day for organizing clothes in dresser drawers while visiting my friend Jill . She posted about how she came across this organization method on the Wilkinson Quintuplet blog and she shared this wonderful information and I thought I'd give it a try!
Jill, a very big THANK YOU! I love the results! So far I've only tackled Jayden's dresser (a little of the 'this' over 'here') but I do plan on organizing my closets and dresser drawers the same way sometime soon.
Here are Jayden's dresser drawer pictures before and after:

Tee shirts and shorts before ~

Tee shirts and shorts after ~

Now, I did put aside a few tee shirts and polo shirts that Jayden had outgrown to donate, but not many, and still look how much more room there is! And I can easily see which tee shirt and pair of shorts I'd want without having to dig to the bottom of the drawer to find them! I love it!

Sweatpants, sweatshirts, and extra tee shirt drawer before ~

Sweatpants, sweatshirts, and extra tees after ~

Again, only two pair of sweatpants were eliminated and still there is plenty of room!

Pajama drawer before ~

Pajama drawer after ~ (only one pair of pajamas was eliminated!)

Jayden's sock drawer before ~

Sock drawer after ~ (I did get rid of lots of socks though!)

Jayden's 'drawers' drawer before ~

Jayden's boxers and briefs after ~

I took advantage of the extra space in Jayden's pajama drawer and his sweatsuit drawer to clean up the messy hooks in the hall (before picture below).

I used the extra room in the pajama drawer to store Jayden's bathing suits and water shirts ~

And I used the extra space in the sweatsuit drawer to store Jayden's sweat jackets too ~

And now there is more room to pass by in the hallway as there are only caps, backpacks, and my bags left hanging on the hooks ~

You wouldn't think such a small project would give me such a big sense of accomplishment, but it does! It doesn't take much to make me happy!

Next I'm onto a small bathroom organizing project.

  2. I love before and after pictures...you did such a good job, Eileen.

Michael has so many T shirts that I decided to roll them all (in a way that still shows any design or logo) and it looks so much better and made a lot of room.

Now, the REAL task will be to keep Jayden out of the neat drawers!

    blessings and huggy wuggies,

  3. Small changes here and there can make a big difference...they go a long way in lowering the stress of everday jobs...wish what I know now I knew as a very young mother of 3...the internet sure makes it easier to learn new ways of doing things and passing it on to others.

You can also hang clothes up in pre put together outfits...that way the child is free to choose himself and you know it will match.

By the way...loved Jayden's chest of drawers...the actual chest now Eileen, not the underwear, and I also noticed your pink bag! Cute!

    Take care,
    Wanda

  4. Hi Eileen-
I love completing a lot of small jobs that lend themselves to 'order'. Two jobs in particular that I find quite satisfying are organizing our walk-in bedroom closet and our CD holders. It seems when those are in order, I am too!!!. Great post, thanks.
    Love Gail
    peace.....

p.s. there is a new post over at my place to 'lighten the mood' over there. :-) eesh!!!

  5. OutdoorMom, thanks for stopping by, I'm loving your blog and can't wait to read more!

Thanks, Marcy! Just this morning Jayden was going to grab some clothes out and both my daughters said, "NO! Umma just fixed all your clothes nice!" And Jayden said, very indignantly, "I KNOW! I helped her do it!" And he did! And he even took the camera and snapped pictures of me folding clothes (but I didn't post those)!

Hi, Wanda, you're right, small changes do make big differences and it somehow helps to get the ball rolling to get the rest of the house straightened out!
I love that dresser too, Wanda! We picked it up at this big used furniture warehouse near us. I love that it's an old piece. We have it in the hall downstairs and it's long and it fits perfect along the staircase. I bought it specifically for Jayden's clothes because I didn't want to be going up and down the stairs all the time, especially after he was first born, you know how often you have to change them! So Katie had a small dresser upstairs that she used and I had this big one downstairs, with half used for Jayden and the other half for telephone books, notepads, etc.
And I just kept it that way even though now he's much older and doesn't need to be changed that often. I like having his things down here.
I should put that piece in one of my Friday Favorites!
I like your idea of putting whole outfits together too!

Gail, you are too funny! You don't have to post for your readers!! I always thought your blog was much like mine, sort of a diary of my life, and if people are interested that's fine, and if not, they are free to move on!
I was not put off in the least! I just can't mind my own business and have to say what's on my mind based on my experiences though, and I'm so glad you were open to that. That's not dark, Gail!
Be who you are!! I'm happy to read you no matter what the mood is anyway!

    Have a great weekend everyone!
    Love, Eileen

  8. Eileen, I though my drawers were neat...I am now going to start and do them the way you have, what a great idea and I know it will work well for t-shirt and turtle neck drawers. Thanks for the tip, I also visited the site where you got the idea, OMG what a wonderful woman and those babies are so cute. I enjoyed browsing her site. I wish you a wonderful weekend and hope you are having a great weekend.....:-) Hugs

  9. Hi Eileen! Thanks so much for all of your cheery comments on my blog! You have such a great personality!! I think you are a joy spreader!!

I have been getting little things done, too and it feels great. I use to not be able to do things in bites, but am learning and it is paying off big time.

The kids drawers look great!! I need to redo two drawers in my dresser but already have done 2. Keep up the good work!!

I also saw a Monet gadget in your sidebar! I love his work, too!!

Hope your weekend is glorious, sweetie!
    HUGS,
    Becky

  11. Bernie, I'm happy to spread the tips, and I am ADDICTED to Jill's blog! She has such a beautiful spirit and her devotion to God and her family just exudes! I go there each and every day looking forward to a new post!
My weekend so far is good, I'm a little sad that Jayden isn't here as my nephews are visiting from out of state and are coming over to use the pool, I know they'll be disappointed for him not to be here, but they are staying all week so they'll be other days. Today was Jayden's Dad's birthday so my daughter took him there to visit.

Hi, Becky, thanks for stopping by and thank you for your more than kind comments!
I have found I work much better if I set my sights low on little projects, otherwise I get overwhelmed and I have a tendency to abandon all hope!
I love Monet, and Van Gogh is another favorite of mine.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, girls!
    Love, Eileen

  13. Very nice job Eileen. Jake and I are doing a major clean and rearrange Sunday. We will go to church tonight so we can start in the morning, early I hope. I probably won't be around much this week but will check in on you here and there! Enjoy your weekend, take a break!

  14. Wow Eileen, I am impressed!! That really does work and I can see how now Jayden can see just what he wants without having to rummage through the drawers. Impressive. Do we get to see what your clothes look like too after they are organized?

  15. Hi, Diana, what projects are you and Jake working on? Will he be home all week to give you a hand?
I've been missing you, but I'm glad you'll be getting a lot done. Isn't it amazing how much you can accomplish when you stay away from the computer?!
Happy cleaning! But please don't overdo it!

Jill, I'm very happy with the clothes arrangement, and I'm anxious to see if it stays this neat! And yes, once I get my closets organized I'll be posting (it probably won't be until I'm changing seasons though so maybe in a month or so), but I don't know if I'll have the nerve to show you 'before' pictures!
Thanks again for posting that on your blog, it was a fun little project!
